Freepik file types

Here is a list of the file types of the resources available for download in Freepik:

    Vector files

A vector is a digital illustration made up of points, lines and curves (or paths), that contents colors, gradients and other deep editable effects. This file allow you to edit texts, shapes, colors and other multiple elements. You can also resize the image without losing any resolution.

Points are called nodes and can be added, deleted and moved. They also have handles that affect the shape and quality of the path between each point within the line or shape. Also, a vector file allows you to change features of a line or shape like the fill color, stroke color or stroke width.

Most of Freepik vector files are available in EPS format, which is a file extension for a graphics file format used in vector-based images. EPS stands for Encapsulated PostScript. An EPS file can contain text as well as graphics.

If the vector has been created by our Designers at Freepik (free images), the AI file extension may also be available. This is the vector format created with Adobe Illustrator.

    PSD files

A PSD, which stands for Photoshop Document, is a layered image file used in Adobe PhotoShop. PSD, which stands for Photoshop Document, this is the default format that Photoshop uses for saving data, a proprietary file that allows the user to work with the images’ individual layers even after the file has been saved.

A PSD file is a document that stores raster-based graphic elements, preserving information as a bitmap, where everything is made up of individual pixels.

File sizes are limited to 30,000 pixels in height and weight or 2GB in total. Layer attributes, linked files, masks, filter effects, etc. can be saved in PSD format.

    JPG/JPEG files

JPG stands for Joint Photographic Expert Group and it is a widely used compressed image format for containing digital images. It is the most common image format used in digital cameras, different operating systems and on the Internet. Compression means that every time you manipulate and save the image you will lose quality.

    SVG files

SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics, and it is the most compatible and popular file format for two-dimensional vector graphics, commonly used with online design tools such as Figma and online editors such as Wepik. SVG files can be scaled without losing quality. They are lightweight, easily modified, and can be animated using CSS and JavaScript. SVG files typically have smaller sizes, faster loading times, and can be compressed without experiencing significant quality loss. They are incredibly versatile as they allow you to work on most online design platforms. This format is ideal for creating interactive web content and is used in various applications and programs, including web design, digital illustration, and mobile apps.

    Fonts

A font is a set of characters with a common design, color or size. Our fonts are available in two formats: TTF and OTF.

TTF is the most popular format and it works perfectly in most older browsers and softwares. It’s also the preferred format when you are going to print out your work.

OTF instead offers new capabilities, like additional alternative characters and typesetting features, including contextual alternates, that are perfect for online works.

We recommend you to install only one font, depending on the usage you will give to it.

Our color fonts are available in OpenType-SVG format and they can add multiple colors, shades, texture and transparency to the characters. They work best on macOS 10.14+, iOS 12+, Windows 10+.

    Videos

Stock video footage is pre-recorded digital video content shot by professionals. It can be used for a variety of projects and is great for filling in the gaps when stock photos don't quite fit the bill. Stock video footage can save time and money compared to shooting your custom video content.

All videos are available in MP4 and MOV formats. In general, .MOV format offers higher quality and resolution, so we recommend it for professional usage. MP4 is a widely supported format, and it's great for social media, presentations, or web content where the video display size is smaller. Ultimately, the choice of video format should be based on the specific requirements of the video project, the intended audience, and the platforms or devices where the video will be displayed.
