FAQs for contributors
If you're looking to collaborate with us and become a contributor, we've compiled some important information that you'll want to review before submitting your first assets. This will help you better understand our requirements and guidelines and set you up for success with us.
CONTENT
What should be the subject of my content?
We recommend that you submit helpful content for our users and the projects they might be working on. This will ensure more downloads and, therefore, a larger income for you.
- You can take a look at our website to see the styles and subjects that work best.
- We monthly update the search trends with briefings that facilitate content creation.
How far in advance should I upload my holiday-themed content?
If you're planning to create content for upcoming festivities or celebrations, we encourage you to start working on it well in advance. To ensure your content has the best chance of being seen and downloaded by our users, we recommend uploading it at least one month before the event. However, for an even greater chance of success, consider sending us your files two months earlier. This way, our team will have ample time to review and publish your content, giving it a better position against competitors in the same subject.
What kind of files can I upload to Freepik?
Here are the type of files you can upload to your contributor dashboard:
- Vectors:To upload vector files, you'll need to provide a preview image in .jpg format and the editable file in .eps format. Make sure both files have the same name.
- Photos: Send us your photo in .jpg format.
- PSD files: For PSD files, upload a preview image in .jpg format and the editable file in .psd format. Both files need to have the same name.
The assets must be 100% original and created by you. If you use our site for inspiration, ensure your design is unique. It is not allowed to use images from another designer as the main or secondary element of your assets.
Please remember that a team is working to prevent these situations, and violators risk having their contributor accounts canceled.
FIRST STEPS
How many files would I need to submit to become a contributor?
If you are a new contributor, you must upload between 150 and 200 assets exactly to be able to submit the images for revision. If you upload 149, the system will not allow you to click the button. The same happens if you have more than 200 assets on the dashboard; even if you upload 250 and select 200, the button will remain inactive.
How do I send my content for review?
Firstly, you need to create your contributor account.
To become a Contributor, sign up, accept our contract, provide the required details, and start uploading your assets. Our team will review your first upload for quality and aesthetic standards. For the first test, upload between 150 and 200 of your best assets and focus on your strengths.
Adding a link to your online portfolio in your contributor profile can improve your chances of passing the test.
What happens if my first assets are rejected?
If your images do not meet our requirements, you can try again by uploading the same range, 150 - 200 assets more. If we do not accept you as a contributor, you can try again after a month. Therefore it's essential to send us your best work to increase your chances of being selected as soon as possible.
Is there a time period in which to send my files?
There is no time limit to upload your assets, you can do it whenever you want. Although, the sooner you do it, the better it is for your downloads!
After your first images are published, there is no deadline for submitting more files. However, it's recommended to send your files as soon as possible to get them uploaded and start earning money.
How long do I have to wait until my files are reviewed?
Usually, we will attend to the content at the earliest convenience (up to 25 working days), but in some occasions, this revision may take longer due to the number of assets pending.
To optimize your earnings, please consider the estimated review time when submitting seasonal content such as Christmas or Valentine's Day. This will help ensure your content is published on time and generates maximum revenue.
PAYMENTS
How much money will I get for my assets?
As a contributor at Freepik, you earn money based on the number of downloads of your published assets marked as Premium content. The amount earned per download is calculated based on the PPD model, which considers the net revenue obtained from subscribers.
In this link you will find all the information about how your earnings are calculated through the PPD model.
Your Freepik Company contributor dashboard displays all income before taxes are applied. The final amount you receive will depend on your individual tax situation and will be calculated after generating the invoice.
Which payment methods are accepted?
At Freepik we accept Paypal and Payoneer as valid payment methods for our contributors. The minimum amount of earnings that must be reached for the invoices to be generated is 25 USD / 50 EUR.
In SEPA countries, payment via bank transfer is also possible.
Please note that no other payment methods are available at this moment.
How would I get paid, and how often?
Payments always correspond to the downloads registered two months earlier. So, for instance, in March, we pay the earnings accumulated for the downloads until the end of January; in May, we pay the earnings accumulated for the downloads until the end of March, etc.
You must remember that invoices will be generated 2 months after you reach the minimum amount required (25 USD / 50 EUR).
- Invoice generation: each month on the 4th
- Invoice validation: each month between the 4th and the 9th
- Invoice payment: each month between the 10th and the 15th
RIGHTS
Who can download my images?
Since all the images published by our contributors will be marked as Premium, only subscribed users can download your images.
Are my assets protected against plagiarism?
We have a strict policy against copyright violations and take them very seriously. Distributing our graphic assets without authorization is prohibited and may result in criminal and civil penalties. If we discover any copyright infringement, we will take legal action and require the content to be removed immediately. If you suspect that one of our contributors has used your work fraudulently, please contact us.
REJECTIONS
Why have my files been rejected?
Due to the high number of assets we receive every day, it is difficult to provide detailed feedback for each particular case. Therefore, we have created a list of common reasons for file rejection.
- The quality of the files doesn’t meet the standard required on our site.
- Repeated or very similar files with slight differences between each other (color change, different size…).
- The files don’t follow the agreed specifications (dimension, titles, tags…).
- A copyright infringement has been detected and your portfolio might be removed.
- If you sent files for validation and these were rejected, please don’t send them again. If these weren’t selected the first time around, it means that we are not interested in them.
- Files for festivities and celebrations should be sent at least one month before the date in question and never later. Otherwise, they will be rejected. However, you can send the files again, when the date comes around the next time.
Please note that this is a generic list, but if you want to learn more about the reasons for rejection we use in our revision process, you can read more here.
