    Troubleshooting

Solutions for common platform issues on Freepik. If something is not working as expected, start here.

This article covers general platform issues. For problems with a specific AI tool — like a failed generation, blocked prompt, or download error from a tool — check the troubleshooting section at the end of that tool's article.

    In this article

Freepik uses AI-powered search to help you find content. You can search by typing a text description or by uploading an image to find visually similar results.

    Search by text

Type a description in the search bar to find matching content across photos, vectors, illustrations, icons, videos, PSD, templates, mockups, 3D models, and fonts.

    Search by image

Upload or drag an image into the search bar to find visually similar content. This feature is available on all Freepik plans. After results appear, you can refine them with filters.

    Search filters

After searching, you can narrow results using filters. Available filters depend on the content type:

    FilterWhat it does
CategoryPhotos, vectors, illustrations, icons, PSD, 3D, video, templates, mockups, fonts
    LicenseFree or Premium content
    OrientationHorizontal, vertical, or square
    Aspect ratioFor video results
    ColorFilter by dominant color
PeopleWith or without people, number of people, age, gender, ethnicity
File typeJPG, PNG, SVG, EPS, PSD, AI
StylePhoto, illustration, watercolor, flat, hand-drawn, and more
AI-generatedShow only AI-generated content, exclude AI-generated, or filter by AI model
PromptShow only AI images that include the original prompt

    Advanced search with boolean operators

You can refine text searches using boolean operators for more precise results:

    • AND — both terms must appear. Example: cat AND dog
    • OR — either term can appear. Example: sunset OR sunrise
    • NOT — exclude a term. Example: beach NOT people

    Sorting

You can sort results by Popular or Recent to find trending content or the latest uploads. Freepik's Choice highlights top-quality picks recommended by the platform.

    Page not loading or slow

If Freepik pages are loading slowly or not at all, try these steps in order:

    1. Check your internet connection.
    2. Try a different browser to rule out browser-specific issues.
    3. Clear your browser cache and cookies.
    4. Disable browser extensions, especially ad blockers.
    5. If using a VPN, try disabling it temporarily.

If the issue persists after all these steps, it may be a temporary server issue. Wait a few minutes and try again.

    Display or layout issues

If the website looks broken, elements are overlapping, or the layout is not rendering correctly:

    1. Clear your browser cache and cookies.
    2. Make sure your browser is updated to the latest version.
    3. Try a different browser.
    4. Disable any browser extensions that modify page content.

    Browser compatibility

Freepik works best with the latest versions of:

    • Google Chrome
    • Mozilla Firefox
    • Microsoft Edge
    • Safari

If you are using an older browser version, some features may not work correctly. Update your browser to the latest version for the best experience.

    Clear cache and cookies

Clearing your browser cache and cookies resolves many common issues. The exact steps depend on your browser, but the general process is:

    1. Open your browser settings.
    2. Find the privacy or history section.
    3. Select the option to clear browsing data.
    4. Make sure Cache and Cookies are both selected.
    5. Clear the data and restart your browser.

    Error messages

If you see an error message on Freepik, note the exact text of the error. Common errors include:

    ErrorWhat it meansWhat to do

For errors related to AI generation, like failed generation, blocked prompt, or model-specific issues, check the troubleshooting section in the relevant tool article — Image Generator, Video Generator, etc.

    Ad blockers and extensions

Some browser extensions — especially ad blockers — can interfere with Freepik's functionality. If you experience issues, try disabling your extensions temporarily to see if the problem is resolved.

    Reporting a bug

If none of the above steps resolve your issue, contact support with the following information:

    • A description of the issue and what you were trying to do
    • The exact error message, if any
    • A screenshot of the issue
    • Your browser name and version
    • Your operating system

This helps the support team investigate and resolve the issue faster.
