How auto-renewal works
All paid Freepik subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual). You will be charged using the same payment method on file unless you cancel before the renewal date.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Subscriptions cannot be renewed early. Renewal is an automated process that happens on your billing date.
- If you purchased with a discount or promo code, the discount applies to the first payment only. Subsequent renewals are charged at the standard price.
- If the renewal payment fails, the system will automatically retry three more times (after 1 day, 7 days, and 21 days). If all attempts fail, the subscription is cancelled and you will need to purchase a new plan.
- You will receive an email notification before your renewal date as a reminder.
How to cancel your subscription
Cancelling your subscription stops the auto-renewal. It does not end your plan immediately. You will continue to have access to all your plan benefits until the end of your current billing period.
Go to your account
Click your profile picture and select "Plan & billing".
Cancel renewal
Click "Danger zone -- Cancel a subscription" and then "Cancel subscription". Follow the confirmation steps.
Keep using your plan
Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. You will not be charged again.
What you lose after cancellation
Once your billing period ends after cancellation:
- You lose access to Premium stock content (downloads revert to free-tier limits).
- You lose access to AI tools beyond the Free plan's daily generation cap.
- Plan credits expire. They cannot be recovered.
- Extra credits are frozen (not deleted). If you resubscribe within their 3-year validity period, they become available again.
- Your generated content (images, videos, audio) remains in your account and can still be downloaded.
- Your commercial license for content downloaded while subscribed remains valid for those specific files.
How to reactivate
If you cancelled your subscription but changed your mind, you can reactivate it before the current billing period ends.
Go to Plan & billing
Click your profile picture and select Plan & billing.
Click Reactivate
Click the Resume subscription or Reactivate subscription button.
Done
Your plan will continue as normal and renew on the original billing date.
If your billing period has already ended, you will need to purchase a new subscription. Your previous plan settings and preferences will not be restored automatically.
Upgrading your plan
You can upgrade to a higher plan at any time. The upgrade takes effect immediately.
Go to Plan and billing
Click your profile picture, select Plan & billing, and find the Change Plan option.
Select a higher plan
Choose the plan you want to upgrade to.
Confirm and pay
You will be charged the prorated difference for the remainder of your current billing period. Your billing date restarts on the day you upgrade.
When you upgrade, any remaining credits from your previous plan become roll-over credits, available until the end of your current billing cycle. Your new plan's credit allocation is added on top.
Downgrading your plan
You can switch to a lower plan at any time. The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
Go to Plan and billing
Click your profile picture, select Plan & billing, and find the Change Plan option.
Select a lower plan
Choose the plan you want to switch to.
Confirm
Your current plan stays active until the end of the billing period. The lower plan begins at the next renewal.
When you downgrade:
- You keep full access to your current plan until the billing period ends.
- Your credit allocation changes to the new plan's level at the next cycle.
- If you have extra credits, they remain usable, but you cannot buy more unless the new plan supports it (Premium+, Pro, or Business only).
- If downgrading from Premium+ or Pro to Premium or lower, you lose unlimited generation at the next cycle.
Switching between monthly and annual
You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time from Plans & billing.
| Switch | When it takes effect | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly to annual | Immediately | You are charged the full annual price. Your billing cycle resets. You receive the full yearly credit allocation upfront. |
| Annual to monthly | After the end of your annual period | You need to cancel the renewal and purchase a monthly plan when your annual plan ends. Credits switch to monthly allocation. |
Annual billing gives you a lower monthly rate and your full credit allocation upfront, which is useful for managing high-demand periods.
Refund policy
Freepik offers a 30-day refund policy for subscription payments, subject to the following conditions:
- The refund request must be made within 30 days of the payment.
- Refunds are only available if you have not used the service: no downloads from Freepik.com or Flaticon.com, and no AI credits consumed.
- You can only request a refund for the current billing period. Previous payments cannot be refunded.
- The refund request must be sent from the email address linked to your Freepik account.
How to request a refund
Go to the contact form
Visit freepik.com/profile/support.
Select the right category
Choose: Subscriptions & Payments > Request a refund > Current invoice.
Include your payment ID
If possible, include the payment ID from your invoice to speed up the process. You can find it in Plans & billing > Billing history.
Submit from your account email
Make sure you send the request from the email address linked to your Freepik account.
Refunds are typically processed within 5 to 10 business days. The refund will be returned to the original payment method. Processing times may vary depending on your bank or payment provider.
Refunds for annual plans
Annual plan refunds follow the same 30-day policy. If eligible, the full annual payment is refunded. Partial refunds for unused months are not available. If you want to stop using the service after the 30-day window, cancel the renewal instead. Your plan will remain active until the end of the annual period.
Extra credit refunds
If you purchased an extra credit pack and have not used any of the credits, you can request a refund within 14 days of the purchase. Use the contact form and select: Subscriptions & Payments > Request tefund > Credits pack.
If any credits from the pack have been consumed, the pack is not eligible for a refund.
What happens to your credits
| Action | What happens to your credits |
|---|---|
| Cancel subscription | You keep all credits until the end of your billing period. After that, plan credits expire. Extra credits are frozen (not deleted) and can be recovered if you resubscribe within 3 years. |
| Upgrade | Remaining credits become roll-over credits, available until the end of the current cycle. New plan credits are added on top. |
| Downgrade | Current credits remain until the end of the billing period. The lower plan's credit allocation starts at the next cycle. Extra credits remain usable but you cannot buy more on lower plans. |
| Renewal fails | Extra credits are placed on hold until payment succeeds. If all retry attempts fail and the subscription is cancelled, extra credits are frozen. |
| Refund processed | All plan credits are revoked immediately. Extra credits purchased separately follow their own refund rules. |

In-app subscriptions (iOS and Android)
If you subscribed through the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, cancellation and refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by Freepik.
To cancel an in-app subscription:
- iOS: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions. Find Freepik and tap Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Open the Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions. Find Freepik and tap Cancel.
To request a refund for an in-app purchase:
- iOS: Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and follow Apple's refund process.
- Android: Open the Google Play Store > Account > Purchase history. Find the charge and request a refund through Google.
Freepik Customer Service cannot process refunds or cancellations for in-app subscriptions. You must go through Apple or Google directly.
Common questions
Can I pause my subscription instead of cancelling?
Freepik does not currently offer a pause option. You can cancel the renewal and resubscribe later when you need the service again. If you have extra credits, they will be frozen and restored when you resubscribe.
I cancelled but I'm still being charged
Check whether you have more than one active subscription (for example, one through freepik.com and another through the App Store or Play Store). Also check whether a family member or colleague may have subscribed using your payment method. If you are certain you cancelled and are still being charged, contact Customer Service with your payment details.
Can I get a refund if I forgot to cancel before the renewal?
Yes, as long as you meet the refund eligibility criteria: the request must be within 30 days and you must not have used the service (no downloads, no AI credit usage) during the new billing period.
I used a promo code. Will it apply to my renewal?
No. Promotional discounts and coupon codes apply to the first payment only. Renewals are charged at the standard price for your plan and billing cycle.
Can I switch from Business to an individual plan?
Switching from a Business plan to an individual plan requires cancelling the Business subscription and purchasing a new individual plan. Contact Customer Service if you need help coordinating the transition to avoid losing access.
