    The Resize tool lets you crop or expand any image while keeping the composition clean and natural.

    This guide tells you how to resize images, crop with precision, or expand visuals using AI fill.

    How to expand photos with AI

    Open the Freepik AI Suite and click Edit from the tool menu.

    Drop your image or select one from your creations.

    Click Edit again and select the Resize tool.

    Click on Expand to open the AI expansion tool.

    Select an aspect ratio or use Presets.

    Drag the crop handles outward to define the new space.

    If you want to control the fill, write a short prompt (e.g., “forest background, natural light”).

    Click Export and choose Download, Upscale, or Use.

    If you click “Use”, you can take your image to a mockup or a design.

    If you leave the prompt blank, the AI will extend your image using the surrounding style and colors.

    Prompts are optional, but they give you more control over what fills the new space. We’ll cover advanced prompt tips in another section.

    How to crop images

    Access the Freepik AI Suite and click Edit.

    Upload your image or select one from your AI creations.

    Free users have limited daily generations. Premium users use credits, depending on the tool selected.
