Your first Space
You can use a Space to structure a complete creative process, explore visual ideas, and collaborate with others. This page explains how to create your first Space from scratch, from a template, or by joining a shared Space. It also covers how to create and run nodes inside your Space.
Ways to start
There are three ways to begin working in Spaces, depending on how you want to set up your first project.
1. Create a new space
To open a blank canvas:
- Go to freepik.com.
- In the left-side menu, tap AI Suite > Spaces.
- Click Spaces. Alternatively, Go to Home > AI Suite > Spaces.
- Click New Space.
A blank canvas will open. You’ll see the option to begin with any available node: Media, Text, Image Generator, Video Generator, or Assistant. Once you select one, it will appear on the canvas, and you can begin building.
This option gives you full control over the structure and logic of your Space.
2. Use a template
Templates let you begin with a preconfigured setup designed for specific use cases such as content automation or campaign flows.
To use a template:
- Access the Spaces tool.
- Click Templates.
- Choose a template from the list.
- Select Use template to create your own editable version.
You can now edit or extend the workflow. To edit a node, make sure the selection tool is active. Then, click the node to open the action bar above it. From there, you can:
- Open preview.
- Edit image.
- Replace creation.
- Reset creation.
- Duplicate.
- Delete.
- Download.
If you change the input of a node, such as updating an image or text prompt, use the Run button in the bottom-right corner of the node to generate new output. You can choose to run only this node or trigger the rest of the flow from that point.
Templates are helpful when you want to explore features quickly or reuse a workflow with minor adjustments.
3. Join a shared Space
If a teammate has created a Space and added you as a collaborator, you can access it directly:
- Open Spaces.
- Use the dropdown menu to select Shared.
- Click the shared Space you want to join.
Shared Spaces are live and editable. Everyone with access can view, add, edit nodes, leave comments, and update content in real time. If someone sends you a direct link to a shared Space, click the link to open it and begin working.
This option is useful for collaborative projects or team-based creative work.
Build your space
Once your Space is open, you can begin building your workflow, exploring ideas, or collaborating with others. Use the tools in the left sidebar to add, adjust, and organize your nodes.
Sidebar tools
Located on the left side of your Space:
- + (Add element): Add new nodes to the canvas. Choose from media, text, image generator, video generator, or Assistant. You can also add elements by right-clicking anywhere on the canvas and selecting from the menu.
- Selection tool: Allows you to select, move, or modify nodes. This tool must be active to access the action bar above each node.
- Hand tool: Lets you pan around the canvas. You can also press and hold the spacebar to temporarily activate it.
- Comments: Add comments where needed. Useful for collaboration and feedback.
- Undo / Redo: Step backward or forward as you build or update your layout.
- Settings: Adjust your view and performance:
- Helper lines to align nodes.
- Video autoplay for previews.
- Performance model to optimize rendering for large Spaces.
Create your first flow
Once you understand the sidebar tools, you can build a basic flow. Here's an example you can try to get familiar with how nodes connect and work together:
- Start with an input: Add a Text node to write your prompt, or use the Assistant node to help generate one based on a reference image or idea.
- Add a visual reference (optional): Use the Media node to upload or select an image from your library, or drag one into the canvas.
- Generate an image: Connect your Text node (and optionally your reference image) to the Image Generator node. Configure your model, aspect ratio, and number of images, then click Run.
- Improve the result: Connect the Image Generator to the Image Upscaler node to enhance the resolution or detail of your image. Adjust the mode and scale factor, then run it.
- Create motion: Add a Video Generator node and connect it to the upscaled image. You can set the generation mode and duration to turn your result into a short-form video.
This example includes a combination of text, image, and video generation using core tools in Spaces. You can customize it, duplicate nodes to test variations, or save it as a reusable workflow for future projects.
Manage and reuse outputs
All images and videos you generate in Spaces are automatically saved to Creations. You can access them at any time, even if the original Space or node is removed.
This makes it easier to:
- Download and reuse visuals.
- Track what you've created.
- Organize deliverables across projects.
Use keyboard shortcuts
Spaces includes a full set of keyboard shortcuts to help you work faster. You can use them to copy, paste, run nodes, manage your board, and more.
