Subway updates its logo for the first time in 15 years

Subway, the worldwide sandwich restaurant chain, has updated their logo, and there is much to say about it. In 15 years they had never updated the brand’s look, and now not only have they unveiled a new logotype, but also new items in their menu as a part of a premium category.

The old logotype

The redesign was first unveiled in two Subway spots during the Rio Olympics opening ceremony. It is a great way to present it to the public, and it will be available in Subway restaurants all over the world from 2017 onwards.

The new design keeps the trademark arrows in the ‘S’ and the ‘Y’, and the “cyclic” shape of the new logo and monogram works nicely with the rest of branding elements. It looks to capture the essence of the brand with a fresh, contemporary look that has optimized colors that work well in all channels.
