This website’s search engine has all of your favorite 90s animated gifs

Dancing baby? “Under construction” gif signs on a website? If you had a computer back in the mid 90s and had Internet access, you know what I’m referring to. The nostalgia is back again! A couple of days ago, we spoke about a WordArt generator, and now this comes up.

GifCities is a website that serves as an animated gif search engine, based off the Internet Archive. If you search any term, such as smiley (emojis used to have that name), you will get a loading message in Comic Sans while it searches the database to show you hundreds of yellow moving faces. They are more creepy than not, but it’s okay.

The hilarious stuff comes when you search for other terms, like the famous dancing baby gif or even Pokémon (yes! So many animated sprites!), which people used to decorate their personal blogs, GeoCities or MySpace websites. Graphic design in its prime.
