Pinterest launches the design “Shazam” for real life visual elements

Pinterest has launched Lens, a project which is still in development as a beta version for smartphones. It uses artificial intelligence (AI) in a similar way to how Shazam detects songs with just audio snippets from them.

The object detection software isn’t new, but Pinterest will link the world of design and the image board app, allowing shopping for products or finding more similar inspiration. It will even allow you to find the name of an exotic fruit, just by taking a picture!

The main focus of Pinterest is to allow their users to experience visual discovery, letting users gather inspiration while they find items related to the one that they are interested in. Further development will allow for better results and more personalized customization; that is for sure.
