How to Create Awesome Christmas Arts by using Papers
It is Christmas time and you must be getting all geared up to decorate your Christmas tree and your home. Maybe you have stored away the Christmas decorations from last year and will be using that or you may be thinking of making a quick trip to the store to buy latest decoration items. Well, there is nothing wrong with that plan except the fact that there is no personal touch to it.
Instead, this year make your own decoration pieces. With the vacations having started, you can even encourage your little ones to chip in. Here are some easy to design Christmas decoration pieces using paper.
1. Paper Stars with Initials
These are easy to make and would look so adorable when each family member has a star with his or her initials on it.
Take an old book and tear out rectangular pieces of paper from it. You can also use old newspaper for the purpose.
Roll the rectangle into a cone and stick the end using glue. You will need 20 such ornaments.
Take a piece of cardboard and cut out a star.
Using a string and needle, string the star so that you can hang it later.
Glue a paper cone each to the points of the star. Then stick more cones to the cervixes of the star. Fill in the remaining space with more rolls to form an elegant paper star.
Using a brush, apply some glue to the edges of the cones. Sprinkle some glitter over this and let it dry. Dust off the excess glitter.
Cut off a round piece of cardboard and stick a letter sticker in it. This could be one corresponding to the initial of the name of a family member.
2. Twisted Snowflakes
Design snowflakes using paper and hang these on your windows as well as to your tree. You can even use watercolor paper to design colored snowflakes.
Take 6 pieces of 6” by 6” paper and fold these across the diagonal into half.
Now starting from the folded end cut a number of lines within the triangle that are parallel to the outer edge of the paper.
Unfold the paper and starting from the inside cuts, pull them together to form a tube. Glue these together. You can add paper clips to hold these together till the glue dries. Continue doing this with all the other cuts too but on alternate sides.
At the end, you will have 6 beautiful, twisted art pieces. Stick these together to form a very interesting, twisted snowflake.
3. Bulbs
The fairy lights when interspersed with handmade bulbs can make your tree look all the more charming.
Take a 12” by 12” piece of paper and cut into five 1 and ½ inch pieces. Let the length of two of these be 12” and the other two be 10”. Keep the length of the last strip at 8 and 3/4”.
Taking a binder clip, tag on all the strips with 12” strips making the outer edge, 10” coming in next and the 8 ¾” in the middle.
Now, fix in an eyelet on one edge of the strips.
Bend these to form a bulb like structure and hammer in another eyelet on the other end.
You can string in an elegant thread through these eyelets to hang these.
4. Recycled Baubles
Help your kids make some interesting baubles for the Christmas tree this year.
Get some plain baubles for this and some sheets of old newspapers. Tear the newspaper into smaller pieces and glue them to the baubles.
Now draw any design or face of an animal on a plain sheet of paper or watercolor paper.
Cut this out and stick it on the bauble.
You can also add in personalized messages on the baubles or even paper butterflies.
5. Little Birds
This is an extremely easy Christmas art which can be created by even the youngest member of your family.
Get a bird stencil or cut out a cardboard piece in the shape of a bird.
Place this on scrapbook sheets and trace the outline.
Cut these out carefully and stick together two or three of these birds to add some sturdiness.
Let it dry and then stick on some colored paper onto it, to make it look more elegant.
You can decorate these birds with stars, polka dots, and what not.
6. Ice Cream Cones
Well, it may not be the best time for ice cream but that does not mean you can’t make some similar decorations for your tree.
Use paper bags to cut out small rectangles. Fold these rectangles to form cones. Using a glue stick the edges properly.
Take some colored tissue papers and crush them to form paper balls.
Using a thread and needle, string these paper balls through the cones to form your very own ice cream cones.
7. Paper Hearts
These are quite similar to the paper bulbs and can be designed in a jiffy.
You will need colored cardboard paper for this. Cut it into fours strips of dimensions 12” X 1 ½” and other four strips of dimension 8” by 1 ½”.
Stick together both the sets of 12” strips and 8” strips.
Now hold these strips together with the 12” ones in the middle and the 8” ones at on either side.
Fold the strips in such a way that they swirl and meet their bottom ends. When you have done this, you will have a double-hearted structure.
Glue these together.
Make this Christmas a fun-filled one by designing the Christmas decorations at home. This will not only help you bond together as a family but will also help in adding a personal touch to your Christmas tree.
