Freepik is the fastest growing media company of Europe according to ‘Financial Times’, and it keeps getting better!

The Financial Times recently mentioned Freepik as the European company that is growing more quickly in the Media category. In a global ranking, Freepik reached position 23 in a list of 1,000 fast growing companies from Europe.

Freepik currently employs almost 60 people in its central office, with over 260 external employees worldwide, and is looking forwards to continue growing and achieving more benefits next year.

Without the need of external investors, they have single-handedly achieved a yearly income of 8 million dollars last year (of which 3 millions are full profit) and they intend to reach 12 million by the end of the current year.

Today, Freepik is situated in the 303rd place in the Alexa global rank, and is partnered up with another stock photography giant, Shutterstock. This collaboration helped Freepik grow a lot in the beginning. And since the Freemium model was introduced, most of the benefits of the company come from the monthly subscriptions, which allow users to access more content and not needing to credit Freepik when using the resources.

But, how was Freepik actually born? It was back in the year 2010 when Alejandro, his brother Pablo and their friend Joaquín Cuenca joined forces to launch a tool that allowed users to easily find royalty-free graphic resources to use in design projects. Previously, they already had worked together in a tool named Panoramio, which was sold to Google along with another Spanish tech company. Together, they started working again on this new project, and two years later Freepik was born. After 6 years, you can see that the project is doing really great!

Of course, the next step for Freepik, Flaticon and Tutpad is to continue growing and never stop creating new creative ideas!
