Take Professional Photos with Camera Raw
Adobe Camera Raw is perfect for those of you who want to take your photos to the next level. The tool, which was first released in 2003, allows you to import and improve your unprocessed images. Its principal function is to process different RAW formats that the brand has to offer (NEF, CR2 or CRW, ARW, DNG…). Now you may wonder in regards to RAW “why would we use such a heavy archive for our photos?”. Raw is a file where compression means there’s not a loss of quality. Also, it contains a large amount of information with great depth of colour captured by the camera. This opens up greater possibilities for editing without a loss of quality occurring.
The archives that RAW uses are equal to the negatives in which photographers normally work with. What’s more, you are unable to edit the negatives since everything that is adjusted using Camera Raw is saved to a separate metadata file called Sidecar. This is so that the original file is not damaged or has any unwanted adjustments. At the moment the files don’t have a support system to process them and in Windows, it’s not possible to view them without downloading the image file viewer that accepts the use of RAW files.
To sum it up Camera Raw is the processor of RAW files that allows you to make your first adjustments before editing your photos in Adobe Photoshop. Now you know what it is why not enjoy our Camera Raw courses and tutorials in Tutpad and put what you’ve learnt into practice.
