Google has made scanning Japanese text with instant translation possible

 

Visiting a foreign country where you don’t know the language is a fun experience, since you can always rely on a dictionary or the Internet if you need some help. But what happens if you can’t even understand the alphabet?

Google’s Word Lens is an app that allows you to scan a text using your smartphone’s camera and instantly receive a translation on your screen. Simple as that. It’s quite useful, and it can make your travel experience a lot more interesting.

When you can read signs, it all makes a lot more sense. Google Word Lens allows you to read a live translation, but you can also take a picture and have Google translate it later. Of course, it also works the other way around, as you can see on the video below 🙂
