Freepik Company recognized with the José Manuel Lara award for ambition and entrepreneurial purpose

Freepik Company, a technology company specializing in the production and distribution of graphic resources, has received the José Manuel Lara award for entrepreneurial ambition and purpose from El Cercle d’Economia, a civic association that seeks to contribute to improving the quality of public debate by issuing independent opinion on the main challenges that condition economic, social and political progress.

This award recognizes the importance of startups as a source of economic energy and stimulus for the entrepreneurial spirit, and highlights Freepik Company as a corporation that has managed to make the transition to business maturity, becoming a company with roots in its territory, generating wealth and employment, and with a desire to remain in its market in the long term. In addition, it recognizes its founders, Joaquín Cuenca, Alejandro Sánchez and Pablo Blanes, as people committed to their social and economic environment, which generates added wealth.

With over 350 employees working from Malaga, 450 exclusive remote designers, and over 12,000 registered contributors, Freepik Company has created the most used image bank in the world, with more than 40 million users per month worldwide who generated a total of 1.2 billion downloads in 2020. In addition, for four years it has been one of the “1000 Fastest Growing European Companies” according to the Financial Times.

In turn, this award recalls the figure of José Manuel Lara, who was President of the Cercle d’Economia and an example of an entrepreneur with ambition and purpose, who understood that the obligation of the entrepreneur is to focus on growth and the creation of long-term value.

In this second edition of the award, together with Freepik Company the jury also recognized Etnia Barcelona, an independent eyewear brand from Barcelona, and Ecoalf, a fashion brand that has created the first generation of top quality designer recycled products.
