Frequently Asked Questions for Freepik Contributors
If you are new to Freepik contributor or thinking of becoming one, maybe there are some questions that will pop up on the way. Keep reading! Today we are going to clear up the main doubts Freepik contributors have.
1. What is the first step to becoming a Freepik contributor?
First things first, to set up your Contributor Account you’ll need to follow these steps. After uploading the required documents to your profile, our team will review and validate them. In case this takes too much time, please contact our support team to inform them.
At this point, the set up of your account will be completed and you just need to go ahead with your first upload and show us your best 20 resources. Please note that you must upload 20 resources exactly to be able to submit the images for revision, no more no less.
2. Can I use images from Freepik in my designs?
It is not allowed to use images from a different designer or photographer as main or secondary element of the resources you upload to Freepik.
The main requirement is that the images and designs that you upload to Freepik must be 100% original and created by yourself. If you look for inspiration on our site, you need to be careful and ensure that your design is genuine.
3. What type of content should I submit?
We always advise submitting content that is useful for our users. The idea is to submit content that can be used for various projects our users might be working on. This will ensure a higher number of downloads and therefore a larger income.
You can have a look at our site and see the styles and subjects that work best, like backgrounds, current festivities, wedding invitations, posters, banners, abstract, etc.
4. How does the Freepik contributor Panel work?
Once you have selected your best resources, it’s time to upload them to the panel. When you access the pane,l click on the option “Upload”. It’s a drag and drop system so it’s pretty easy to submit them.
For vectors and PSD files, you must upload the preview file in .jpg extension and the editable file in .eps or .psd. Both files (preview and editable) must have the exact same name so the system will understand that both are part of the same graphic.
Once you have dropped all the images you want to upload, click on the blue button “Import files”.
The next step will be to add the title and tags to your images. You just need to click on the “Edit metadata” button and click “save”.
As you’ll see, it’s very straightforward but here’s how the panel works post so you don’t have any doubt.
5. Is metadata information important when submitting resources?
Metadata is essential for proper localization of the resources at Freepik as it allows users to find what they are looking for. Properly tagging your resources will help users to find your content! This means that you can increase your downloads with the right keywords.
So, in order to add tags and titles, you can do it in two different ways: by adding them directly from the panel or by uploading a CSV file, and the system will automatically retrieve them.
6. Why does the review process take so long?
Bear in mind that our revision process isn’t machine-based. Every resource is reviewed by a professional from our team, ensuring the quality of all images uploaded to our platform. We know that you put a lot of effort into your content and we value it.
7. Why have my resources been rejected?
At Freepik, we value quality over quantity. There are some parameters that you have to bear in mind to meet our quality standards.
First, you have to be aware of some technical requirements that your files must meet depending on the type of resource, whether it’s vectors, photos, or PSD. To understand better the reasons for rejections, have a look at the guidelines we’ve posted before to avoid rejections:
8. How am I getting paid, and how often?
Payments always correspond to the downloads registered until two months earlier. For instance, in March we pay the earnings accumulated for the downloads until the end of January, in May we pay the earnings accumulated for the downloads until the end of March, etc.
You must keep in mind that invoices will be generated 2 months after you reached the minimum amount required (50 USD/EUR if you have Payoneer as payment method, 100 USD/EUR if you have Paypal).
- Invoice generation: each month on the 4th
- Invoice validation: each month between the 4th and the 9th
- Invoice payment: each month between the 10th and the 15th
9. How can I increase my downloads?
Uploading content frequently and being constant is one of the best ways to gain visibility, hence getting more downloads. Have a look at these tips or read one of the many interviews we have done to our contributors to know their secrets. 😉
