Let’s make sure that the properties are selected brush “shape dynamics” and “transfer”, which are most important because they give us the pressure, and the fine tip. to make our sketch!

2

STEP 3

We create lines of action for our character and then create the body based on these lines.

3

STEP 4

We work on the details of the character still as a sketch.

4

STEP 5

We do the cleanup of the line on a new layer.

5

STEP 6

Added a gray background which helps us with the insinuation of lighting we want, in this case scenario will be a little dark.

6

STEP 7

In this way we can correct our final line and add some story telling to the drawing, to tell us a story and not just a static pose.

7

STEP 8

Add the base colors for our character.

8

STEP 9

Select the sketch line and put it in multiply mode with moderate transparency that allows us to see the line as a guide.

9

STEP 10

We took the layer color of the face and we started to paint over it insinuating lighting.

10

STEP 11

Create a new layer above the layer, and holding ALT between the two layers, an arrow which links us to one another layer appears, so we can paint without problem get out of the outline.

11

STEP 12

We make sure that every part of the body has a layer group, a folder to take an organization in layers.

12

STEP 13

In this step, we can correct some things in proportion of body with the painting and rethink parts of the original design.

13

STEP 14

If you want to add details that were not in the sketch, the first thing is to have references to be sure what we will do.

14

STEP 15

We have added some new details.

15

STEP 16

To make a color correction for new details, create a linked layer in multiply mode and select a color that is within our color palette according to the arm.

16

STEP 17

We join extra character details without losing our color palette.

17

STEP 18

We do the same step in the areas you want to add details (this is free)

18

STEP 19

In the same way we have corrected legs in color and detail lines.

19

STEP 20

In the painting process we may have new ideas, such as redesign of parts of the character. In this case the sword.

20

STEP 21

Add the final details to the accessories of the character.

21

STEP 22

If we are sure that the redesign work, it’s time to go forward!

22

STEP 23

In this way we can feel more free to paint, and we do directly with brushes, sketch without guides. only paint. considering the colors of our illustration.

23

STEP 24

If we see that the color palette works, It’s time for the next step.

24

STEP 25

Some extra painting effects on the body.

25

STEP 26

We turn off the layers of character and let the background only to free painting stains on the dark background to emphasize the character.

26

STEP 27

We put everything in a folder called character design and create a photo filter.

27

STEP 28

We can see that the color temperature is uniform with photo filter.

28

STEP 29

We can give freedom to our creativity and painting the details of our illustration.

29

STEP 30

To make it more compact color and temperature of our illustration, we can create a new layer in multiply mode and select a color that prevails in the palette to immerse the character even more in the scene

30

STEP 31

Now we make a new folder with everything. Duplicate the folder and then we merge everything in one layer and turn off the first folder to keep a copy of our painting.

31

STEP 32

Now we add noise to our layer but be care and add just a few.

32

STEP 33

And now we got a character with a great personality and an amazing color palette.
