Mexican artist and designer, Moisés Hernández, creates beautiful minimalistic wooden sculptures of birds. In his series, ‘Immersed Birds’, he tries to explore and imitate the beautiful colors in exotic bird’s plumages.

He wanted to study three kinds of bird that are native to Mexico: the toucan, the hummingbird and the Mexican quetzal. To color the sculptures, he strategically immerses the wooden birds in colored water.

This way, layer by layer, he creates the stunning effect that his sculptures feature, with an interesting mix of transparencies in color and resulting in these incredible, unique pieces of art.
