This voice simulator imitates the way that the mouth produces sound

In order to produce sounds, computers have it easier than us. Our phonic apparatus is quite the engineering work of art, and tons of tiny muscles are involved in making us able to produce speech and sound.

Neil Thapen, a mathematician from Prague, has designed an app that is called Pink Trombone, designed to emulate different elements present in the mouth, nose and throat in order to produce an artificial sound that sounds a bit more like the natural version.

Playing around with this emulator, you can adjust the parameters so that the mouth produces vowels and consonants, modifying the lip shape, tampering with the palate settings or constricting muscles from the throat, managing to produce different sounds.

You can find the simulator to try it here.
